WC "All Day, Every Day" StudentĀ Attendance Initiative

A recent study shows that students who miss more school than their peers consistently score lower on standardized tests, regardless of their age, demographic group or where they live.

Improving student attendance is an essential, cost-effective but often overlooked strategy for school improvement, closing achievement gaps and ensuring all our students are on-track to learn and succeed.

Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow

Sebree's FEBRUARY 2018 attendance rate was 93.80%.

Sebree Students Take the Lead

              Sebree Students Take the Lead

Each grade level participated in Students Take the Lead as a school-wide event. Intermediate grade students were given an extreme environment in which they were to work collaboratively to research and create a mode of survival using everyday household items. The students brought in the items needed for the project.  In addition to the research and model, the students also created a presentation of their choice to a buddy class in the primary grades. Students had to use communication and problem solving skills. The creation of the models for survival forced students to think deeper and have discussions around what would be the most suitable for their environment.

The primary grade students were very attentive to their older peers during the presentations. They were very intrigued by the models and took their role in developing an art project to supplement or enhance the presentations very seriously.  They took pride in their work and enjoyed the guidance of older peers.

Baptist Health Madisonville, Sebree Elementary School and Webster County Schools Team Up with Project Fit America to Get Kids Physically Fit

Sebree Elementary School will formally take its role as a Webster County host and model school for Project Fit America (PFA), a national public charity dedicated to getting kids fit since 1990. Please join us for the Opening Day Kick Off and Fitness Celebration at Sebree Elementary on October 21, 2016 @ 9:30 am.

Sebree Elementary was one of four schools in the area to be awarded a $16,350 grant from the Baptist Health Madisonville for the Project Fit America (PFA) program. PFA is a non-profit organization that implements innovative Fitness in Education in elementary schools. “Our school applied for this grant to offer our students an opportunity that would otherwise be unachievable in obtaining fitness equipment and program support to assist with health and fitness. By bringing Project Fit America to Sebree all students will benefit greatly!” stated Dawn Forker, Sebree Principal.

The Project Fit America grant funded by Baptist Health Madisonville includes state-of-the-art fitness equipment specifically designed to address the deficit areas where children fail fitness tests; indoor fitness equipment; a dynamic curriculum with games, activities and challenges for kids with the PFA outdoor & indoor equipment; the program also teaches character development, sportsmanship, team work and leadership skills.

“The partnership between our organizations will serve as a cornerstone for enduring community health and wellness. Baptist Health Madisonville’s sponsorship of Project Fit America is another example of our proactive response to the growing need for medical and wellness services in our community,” stated Kristy Quinn-Marketing and PR Coordinator. Quality fitness in education has a direct impact not only a child’s health but their academic success,” said Stacey Cook, Executive Director, “We are extremely proud of Baptist Health Madisonville for their commitment to bring this program to the community and for their dedication to improving the health and wellness of children.”
